Revolutionary Socialist Party
The Revolutionary Socialist Party was founded on 19 March 1940 by Tridib Chaudhuri and other revolutionary nationalists who broke away from the Anushilan Samiti tradition to embrace Marxism-Leninism while retaining a distinct identity from the Communist Party of India. Historically strong in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura, the RSP has been a consistent constituent of the Left Front in West Bengal/Tripura and, unusually, of the Congress-led UDF in Kerala. It has held the Kollam Lok Sabha seat for several terms through veteran leader N.K. Premachandran.
