Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)
The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) was founded on 5 October 2021 by Chirag Paswan, son of the late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, following a split in the original Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founded by his father in 2000. The split occurred after several LJP MPs and Chirag's uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras broke away amid a leadership dispute following Ram Vilas Paswan's death in October 2020, with the Election Commission subsequently freezing the original party name and symbol. Chirag Paswan's faction, formed via merger with the Bharatiya Sab Log Party, retained the base of Ram Vilas Paswan's Dalit-centric political legacy and rejoined the BJP-led NDA ahead of the 2024 general election, contesting and winning all 5 seats allotted to it in Bihar. Chirag Paswan subsequently became Union Cabinet Minister for Food Processing Industries.
